Power of the sun

Human beings have been trying to harness the power of the sun since the beginning of time. With solar panels, we are finally able to do just that!

Harnessing the Power of the Sun

People have developed multiple ways to convert the sun’s powerful radiation into heat energy. The sun has been harnessed into solar ovens, to heat water inside and outside of homes, and to get fluids to high temperatures.

How it Works

Through the creation of photovoltaic solar power cells, sunlight can be used to create electricity to power homes and buildings. When the sun strikes a power cell, which uses a semiconductor (typically silicon), it knocks electrons loose. These electrons in motion produce an electrical current that can be captured with wiring into direct current (DC) electricity. A solar inverter is able to convert the DC electricity into alternating current (AC) electricity which can then be used to power our homes and appliances.

Generating Power

By installing solar power cells on our homes, buildings, and throughout our farms we can generate the power we need directly from the sun.

This energy does not create pollutants or carbon dioxide and can reduce our impact on the environment. Plus, solar energy can be used to reduce our energy costs to heat, cool, and power our buildings.
